I have decided to do this nature project on my cousin's dog, Shorty, because he isn't like other dogs. The reason I say this is because he doesn't really bark, I know, kinda weird huh? He's a very interesting and unique dog because of that, but I still haven't figured out why he doesn't really bark. The only time he does bark is when my aunt accidentally leaves him outside and let me tell you, he sure as hell has a loud bark.
Shorty is an eight year old llasa apso. He has kind of a cream/tan colored fur and has a very unique under bite. He is also one of the most friendliest dog ever, which is why I love him so much. Also the reason why my aunt spoils him so much, by giving him treats and feeding him ice cream, which I know for a fact is bad for dogs.
Shorty should win an award for the world's most laziest dog. He literally sleeps all day, everyday. He would probably even sleep for hours if there weren't any disruptions. For some odd reason this is what fascinated me and made me do my project on him. His laziness made me wonder, "why is he so lazy and unmotivated?" Is it because he's getting old or is it because he's spoiled? So I researched it and found out that dogs usually sleep eight to sixteen hours a day with disruptions. This made me want to know more about dogs and how they are in their naturally ways. So that is what really sparked and inspired to do it on my cousin's dog.
Shorty is absolutely cute ! I had no idea that dogs slept for 16 hours because sometimes I actually think my dogs need a lot more sleep than they get. The reason I believe this is because they bark all night and all day which is a difference my dogs have with Shorty maybe this could be the reason that he values his sleep so much because he doesn't capture the need to bark. I wonder if dogs act the way human beings act when they're exhausted and are in need of sleep?
ReplyDeleteI like the shape of your post and the promise of where it ends up. I hope you seek out answers to some of your questions.
ReplyDeleteYour dog is so cute!! The under bite gives him such a rare look, it's adorable. I think it is surprising that he doesn't bark, but I bet the owners love it because I know my parents HATE when my dogs bark and they bark 24/7!! I didn't know that dogs slept that long either with disruptions, that's amazing. I've always wondered a dog's ability to understand what we do. Do they have the same mindset as us or what do they see that we see? A different species is so interesting to learn about. Great observation and good luck throughout the rest.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is very interesting I thought dogs slept less. I wonder if dogs have dreams like we do and if they do is it in black and white?
ReplyDeleteLol this blog seriously is adorable. I find it interesting how much dogs can sleep. Maybe getting your cousins dog another dog would motivate him to be more active?
ReplyDeleteOMG that is a cute picture of Shorty! I have met Shorty before and now that you said it, he really does not bark. I wish I was a dog, I want to sleep for that long. Good choice of what to blog about though, I hope you notice a lot of interesting things about him. Keep us updated! :)
ReplyDeleteShorty is so adorable! Your blog title "King Shorty" is way fitting, he gets spoiled as true royalty. Shorty reminds me of my dog, she's also super lazy, but I feel it's because she's getting really old :/ Well awesome blog by the way, I'm curious to see how Shorty unfolds.
ReplyDeleteThis blog brings an interesting question to mind. Do dogs know the difference between basic needs and gifts from their owners. If so, do they manipulate and take advantage of you. They are probably way smarter than they make us think. p.s. your cousin's dog is so freakin adorable.
ReplyDeleteI like how you described the dog, for example how you said "Shorty should win an award for the world's most laziest dog." Great piece of writing.
ReplyDeleteThat really fascinates me of how you found out that dogs sleep eight to sixteen hours, I wouldn't think that because I always think of dogs of being energetic and playful.
